URSULA's voice crackles on over all forms of communication, radio and telepathic. In both, her transmission seems unstable. "Warning. Urgent. Attention required. I really mean it. Please evacuate the water. If impossible, hide immediately. The blast will be incoming from the east. The Aurora has reached critical status. Dark Matter engines failing. Core system failure impending, counting down in ten... nine... eight... sev-- sev-- five... four... three... tw--"
Should any be above the surface in the line of sight of the Aurora, they will witness the fires of explosion. The outer shell pops and bursts into flame, billowing out, a deafening roar that cracks with a heavy wave buoying through the water. Shocks of steam fill the air, scalding what surfaces they burst over. A rain begins.
In some ways, it is the safest place to witness.
Below, the explosion ricochets. A shock blasts through the water, then another, sending wave after wave pushing seaweed flat down, knocking animals about, scattering and rocking sand. Pulses of burning hot bubbles shake through a radius, fizzling out only after it sears and disperses to ravage what rises above. Cold water filaments web through the pods of heat. The ocean shudders.
Even as far as the base, the Aurora’s explosion makes itself known. The whole structure shudders on its supports, loose items shaking and falling, rushes of white and dark water bursting past the observatory windows in one wave, another, a third, and in one empty observatory, a crack breaks through the glass, forcing URSULA to seal off the area temporarily.
Rain still falls above the Aurora’s wreckage. The last of the fires will be doused. When the waters become cool again, new sea life will move in to make food of the their dead brethren.
A strange keening shivers in the air at the edge of hearing.

[It's not long after the explosion, not long after the rocking of the base has stopped, when the entrance to the base is opened. Fukami stumbles into the main entrance, and anyone who's perceptive (or even someone who's not) might notice the way several of his tentacles trail behind him. The pink skin is scorched an angry red as opposed to the usual pinkish, burned almost all over on the outside.
(At least he didn't lose one, the regrowth process can be annoying and take forever.)
He had been far enough from the explosion not to get burned more by scalding water, but not far enough to escape. Fukami sinks his weight sideways against the lockers, dripping water, panting.
There's no Wadanohara here, either, so he can't count on her healing magic, his mind reminds him. He's just going to give himself a minute or two here to breathe (because oh boy had he swum fast) before he heads into the base proper.]
[ She has yet to meet an explosion she likes. From the one she never saw in Kirkwall to the life altering one at the Conclave, explosions had yet to mean really good news. So she'd braced herself in the door by the labs, hearing the base protest the water as it hit, and hoped to the Void they weren't all going to be flooded out.
The chaotic mess of the aftermath was visible everywhere, and while checking for fire or injuries, Ellana is swift on her feet, looking for immediate dangers first. By the time the doors are allowing people back in, she has her unremarkable staff in hand. Fukami is the first person she sees after that retrieval, and when she approaches, she looks him over and pulls on her connection to the Fade at the sight of angry red. There are salves they might be able to make, but he may have unseen injuries, and their supplies remain limited. She'll have to monitor her own energy levels, but that's nothing new. Depending on lyrium potions was a deadly mistake.
The healing begins almost at once, leaching away pain while encouraging regrowth, the hint of a green distortion in the air as Ellana concentrates on forming mana in the way she desires. ]
Fukami, do you have an idea of the extent of your injuries? Is there anything deeper than these?
[ A nod of her head toward his feet, meaning his tentacles, her staff resting against her neck and shoulder, hand held palm out toward him, as if she were gesturing for him to stop. ]
[There's a tenseness in his voice, but just because of the unfamiliar magic (he supposes you'd call it) crawling over him, coupled with pain and the lingering shock of feeling that explosion. He shakes his own body minutely, as though to shake it off, lifting an undamaged tentacle as if to gesture at her.]
That's enough, it will be fine from here. [At least, the angry red has dimmed down some and, he will admit, the pain is less debilitating than before.] ...Others will need something like that more than I.
[ So he may be a strange tentacled person, but he's certainly not bad... and with Sisi safely tucked somewhere, Cardia's free to try and help where she can. There's a thin cut on her cheek, barely trickling blood, from an encounter with one (1) falling, slightly sharp object, but she's ignoring it right now. Quick, what's first-aid for an octopus-- ]
[Which isn't really the truth. The way his voice sounds is a pretty good indicator of that, tense with pain. Having his tentacles injured is as good as having any limbs burned badly--and it's more than one. Raising his eyes and telling himself to focus, he eyes her.]

[Shiro smells dinner cooking? is making his way down the hallway to the lockers. His wetsuit is, well, shredded. And his goggles are cracked. But Shiro himself seems fine, and wandering his way to see if he can put on something that looks less like it's abotu to fall off him entirely.
But he's stopped short when he catches sight of Fukami, leaning against the lockers. He notices the reddened skin, and his eyes widen all at once.]
[Fukami's slower to react than his usual-- but his eyes shift to Shiro after a moment. He takes him in, his wetsuit and his cracked goggles and a small frown crosses his lips. He doesn't seem otherwise injured.
That's good.]
Just burns. [...] I wouldn't advise going out, the water is still hot.
[ First aid is not all magical in nature, and Ellana knows her fair share of both due to the nature of her life as a whole. She'll be getting in touch with the visibly injured, or even those in shock, to check on how they're doing and offer assistance on base. She's not shy about it: at some point, all five foot plus of her may even be asking you a question while holding a walking stick in her one good hand. ]

[ Though saying no might mean being asked to help clean up the mess from what was shaken loose in the shockwaves, whoops. ]

[ The waters may not be cool, but when superheated pockets don't appear to be lurking around in abundance, Ellana suits up to head out and "call" out. ]

[The voice comes from an entirely shaky young woman, who was crouched in a corner with her hands pressed over her ears (that was terrifying, okay). She's not injured, though, and she'll just...try to do what she can to help.]
[ Ellana approaches, leaning her staff against the wall before she holds out a hand, offering to help her to her feet. ]
That was frighteningly loud even all the way out here.
[ Imagine being closer to the downed ship when it hit critical capacity... she doesn't really want to. "Closer" as likely meant "dead" as anything else. ]
[ A little cave thing... that was broad, given the region, but it's more important that she's currently okay. ]
The Aurora wasn't stable. The engines blew, from what Ursula was saying right beforehand. Can you give me an idea of what the area around your little cave looks like?
[Sorey and Mikleo are lucky, in that they still haven't ventured too far afield -- the explosion caught them in the water but quite near the base, so they avoid the heat and the worst of the force. Still, the waves were fairly brutal, and they were near one of the networks of coral and stone columns. Being smacked into those? Not fun.
They drag a bit coming in: for the most part they're just bruised, but Mikleo's leaning on Sorey some for support. It's Sorey who looks around and goes:]

[Mikleo just looks dazed -- he took a bit more of a knock, but mostly it's the violent roiling of the ocean that's seriously getting to him. There's a low mutter of telepathic broadcast from him, underlying Sorey's questions: calm down, calm down. Is he talking to him, you, the ocean, or just himself? At least it means everyone can tell there's a second person there with Sorey.]
[ And here's Cardia, maybe a little wobbly and with a cut on one cheek, but otherwise completely unharmed. She's been fairly lucky, in that she hadn't been outside of the base when the explosion had hit, but that just means she's more than a little worried about everyone else. ]
[ Peridot is still in the process of testing and building some of the propulsion devices that she's been working on building. In this case it's one of the small, personal devices and she's just been putting the thing through its paces when the warning starts it's countdown. It definitely gets her attention, anyway. ]

Fortunately, she's not too busy feeling sorry for herself to kick the propulsion device into overdrive. She zips into the lee of the base to shelter from the shockwave. Just in time, too. She feels the whole structure rock and she's tossed about by the turbulence as the water churns. For a moment she's not sure which way is up. As everything finally settles, she shakily sends an open communique. She wants to get back inside, but part of her feels just the tiniest bit of responsibility. ]
[It's not from the water, but there are other priorities - or the pretense of other priorities - at play here. The tone of this particular response is probably at least a little familiar, given their shared interest in getting their hands on transportation. Uranus gets straight the point, every thought thorny. She's on her way to the base's sea access point already, preparing to pull people from the water.]
Is that you? Weren't you working on a propellant? [Yes, given the immediate danger posed by the explosion and the possible damage to their own base, it does sound like someone more concerned with results than saving people would say. She's conditioned herself well] Did you get away with it?
[ this is not as much of a shock to him as it might be for other people - URSULA had informed him about this happening a few days ago. Why? Because if he'd been in there trying to fix it and this happened, he'd be blown up, for one thing. Not that a simple explosion would be enough to kill the indestructible Korosensei... probably. (Without his mach speed, would he have been able to get out of there in time? He'd like to think so, but the reality is that it's less likely than he'd prefer.)
Predictably, he's got his tentacles firmly planted in the base when this all goes down, because he never goes out into the water if he doesn't have to. But he's watching and listening with a faint sense of concern nonetheless. Logic dictates his students wouldn't be anywhere near that ship. His heart, though - his biggest weakspot, as usual - worries anyway.
He waits a little while for the waves to subside at least a little bit before he decides it's time to try this. Korosensei stands near the entrance of the base, holding a hefty pile of scrap metal collected by his fellow recruits in his tentacles, as well as a welder, and looking nervous in his airtight, astronaut-like wetsuit. It's not the actual repair that's making him nervous, though. The fires, radiation, debris, and deadly creatures aren't too worrisome - the swimming is another matter entirely.

Well! According to URSULA, now is the time to go plug up that leak. We'd better not wait any longer than we already have. [ despite the aforementioned nerves, though, his voice sounds as solid as ever. ] Because of the danger the radiation poses, I'd like to go by myself. I hope that you all understand. Incidentally, how is that transportation mission going? Um, you guys have finished something, right? N-not that I can't swim there, of course, but...!
[ ooc: so far, it looks like sensei will be traveling with Mikleo, regardless of which transportation we have!! if you're interested in getting your character involved in some way in the actual fix, just lmk in PM or whatever! do note that the radiation will make your character ill if they're not immune like korosensei, and he will try very very hard to keep anyone vulnerable from going. ]
[He's just as glad for the wait; it means the ocean's settled down more, and he's put his head down for long enough that most of his earlier dizziness has faded. She puts herself in front, back turned, on alert. One arm bends up above her head for cover, the other casts out to keep the other person braced against the wall..]
Stay here...There could be another blast. [Haruka holds her breath until things seem truly quieted, then exhales into her bangs. Sweat gathers at her temple, but she smiles like she's trying to calm someone's nerves.]

Her fingers pick through an unseen pocket, fingering her transformation pen. If she's alone for now - then Sailor Uranus will soon have to make a magnificent entrance. She needs to see what fires are still burning]
