LISTEN UP EVERYONE!!!

i know there have been a lot of info dumps lately, but this is really important, okay and i will graciously provide a tl;dr at the bottom. you're welcome.

kei and i went to investigate the monolith when the lights were going all crazy and we found some important stuff

- the lights were actually programmed to be a distress signal that can be seen from outer space to flag down other ships
- here's something i recorded, it was password-protected so this is really important stuff obviously lol

"We found something pretty weird on the last planet we were on but nothing compared to this one. All right I'm just going to save a picture here and head out but this definitely needs to be saved. Chris keeps joking this is why you don't trust doctors but come on, we know it wasn't a usual serum cocktail that did this? He just hates doctors."

oh yeah and shiro and i found a bunch of weird stuff down in the dunes.

- movie posters! there's one of the titanic, jaws, idk popular stuff just come and ask me if you want one bc i don't want any of them unless it's of Hero of my Storm. (that's my movie btw)
- there's a container of bullets, but i'm keeping those somewhere away from people who may be trigger happy or bloodthirsty so don't get your hopes up
- two hazmat suits with designs on them that look like they're straight from a 90s kid's show. whatever they're still useful

TL;DR: we found a bunch of new materials in the dunes, and some important info on the monolith. if you care about solving the mysteries of this planet you should actually read it up above :)

i'm mostly just worried about more aliens crashing here following the signal since it seems like they mostly crash and complicate things

Okay, now that is some creepy stuff. Unless we're looking at aliens who are supposed to have tentacles growing out of their faces, something seriously messed up happened. What kind of purpose could genetic modification like this even have?

That hasn't been the style of any aliens I've met, but who knows what the locals are like? As it is, the planet Iniidae sometimes acts like it doesn't want us here. I wouldn't be surprised if others were trying to "fix" that little problem.

the monolith seems manmade so i think they must have been signaling for help in general? idk i didn't find anything related to who they were going for specifically
i think there's still a lot to be discovered about it

Mm, that makes sense. There's a lot of stuff around here that doesn't fully make sense. I hope no one is looking for that signal... not if they'd just come get lost down here, too.

i wonder if it's really a bad idea to turn off that distress signal. i'm concerned about what it could bring, but also... a lot of us arrived here on the monolith. a lot of the people who did arrive on the monolith when i did have since disappeared.

if we can find out exactly who that signal is meant to broadcast to, it could be a clue to solving the mystery of our arrival.

think about it logically. ursula hasn't said anything about there being any kind of radio or other transmissions from the monolith, right? just the lights?

i don't know a lot about space travel, but if it's literally just lights as a distress signal, that would imply either something close enough to orbit to see it, or signaling to someone else on the planet. right?

i hate to say just sit here and wait to see who shows up, but... i feel like it must be a tangible clue of some kind.

You see all those disco-neon lights that are flashing from outside? Those are from the monolith! It's kind of like a giant building and I think it was once a spaceship. They turned it into a distress signal for the reasons I wrote up above.
