she sounds flustered yet happy when she responds, taken aback but awed all the same. ]

Thank you, Kara Zor-El. [ she does her best to pronounce kara's name in return. it was only right. ] It's the first time I've met someone pronounce my last name so clearly. Besides my family, of course.

[ The second wave of surprise is strange, but Kara tries not to make assumptions or think that's weird. It's unfair to someone who's being nothing but friendly. She lifts a shoulder in a half-shrug, and grins. ]

Kara then! It's such a pleasure to meet you. [ it really is. eve is always happy to meet new people.

though, these days, it'll have to be through telepathy or messages until ada was comfortable with revealing their condition. ] And thank you so much for taking the joke with such good spirit. My sister thought, for sure, no one would be kraken up at them.

[ She's startled into a huff of laughter, then gives in to it, and laughs properly. ]

I'm still working on my puns. I hope to shore them up before I try them out in public. [ eve please… your sister here is trying to stifle a sigh as she lugs around materials for the others' constructions… ]

Yeah, seems like there's always something to do. How long have you been here, Eve?.

I believe Ada and I came here… two months ago? Give or take.

At the moment, we're just reaching out to the others now. My sister thought it'll be best if we first learned everything we knew about the base before doing anything. [ well. that's the cover that ada told her at least. eve tried to do that for real so it isn't a total lie. ]

I got here a few weeks ago. Have you been having any trouble figuring anything out?

I suppose there's the concern of how one seeks medical assistance here. Specifically for special needs.

My sister Ada is a full-conversion cyborg. Meaning she's all metal and wires and synthetic skin and the like. If she gets damaged, I'm unsure of who to ask for help here. She says not to worry but I have to. We're family.

[ she tries to be a bit more lighthearted, adding, ] It's part of being the little sister after all! It says on my resume and everything, 'fuss over Ada until she rolls her eyes.'

[ Her expression twists in sympathy. ]

Yeah, my sister's like that too. She's good at her job and she wouldn't shut me out, but I still worry.

[ Kara smiles though, it's hard not to, thinking of Alex. ]

I'm sorry to hear that. [ she really is but, at the same time, she's happy to hear that kara's sister can still do whatever she needs to do back home.

it must be very important to stay there, like ada's work. though… didn't stop them from being here. ] I take it that you didn't volunteer as well? I heard people willingly came here but I haven't come across many of them yet.

No, I didn't. We're clearly needed here, though.

That's certainly true, especially after reading some of the things that the base didn't have prior to the others' arrival.

It's just… [ there's a little pause on her end, as if trying to find a way to phrase her words. ] I wish I knew how to be more of help to the others here. Ada can be of great help to everyone with her strength and the items she brought with her.

[ and there's not much she can do in comparison. ]

[ She knows the feeling. Supergirl is helpful now and then but Kara's only been doing heavy lifting and exploring. Alex is the expert in xenobiology. ]

What do you do at home, Eve?

[intranslatability]

Not much.

I mean-! I was a graphic designer. Made advertisements and infographics for businesses and such. [ all belonging either to her family or her husband but no need to mention that. she already feels bad. ] Not exactly in high demand when we need inventions and classifications and the like.

Useful for maps. And I'm guessing you could write a way better survival guide than URSULA.

Something like cartography then? [ it had never occurred to her that she could do that with her skills. but, at the same time, she did enjoy the maps and the charts that were included in the few fantasy novels she was allowed to read.

the level of detail that was put into them had always fascinated her. and she did examine and study the designs whenever she could. ] That… That could be of use to us here. Especially for the locations we're still exploring.

And maybe a redesign of the guide is needed.

[ while she'll do whatever she could to not be rude towards ursula, in any shape or form, she has to admit there's a lot of room for improvement with what they had.

wow. she never thought she could be of help like this. she who had seen the world mostly through pictures and holograms and the screen. ] I guess that means I'll need to explore the areas then! The information we have at hand is good and all but there's nothing like firsthand experience to really give someone an idea of something.
