[This is the first time Komeada has used the network to broadcast anything himself. He's smiling, though that's pretty typical for him, but there's a slight awkwardness to it.]

It would seem that by happenstance I've become a father.

[He sighs deeply, it is a rather purposeful sigh.]

I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do now though. I've been trying to look up information on how to go about it but the recourses are a bit lacking.

Biology was never really something I looked too deeply into. It seems a bit unlucky to be burdened by this so suddenly.

[He brightens at the next part though.]

However, I guess it is a rather lucky encounter to be bestowed a life to nurture!

Even though I was assaulted and insulted in the process.

[He sighs again, this one more genuine.]

Now I feel rather tired. So... yes, if someone could please help me, I don't really have enough stamina left to try and figure this out right now.

[And he does look rather drawn and tired. Paler than usual.]

[ That's when Undyne makes her grand appearance in the video feed, but not before setting off any number of crashes and explosions in the background? Did half the base just go up in flames? Sure sounds like it, but that's hardly important. Anyway... ]

Well golly I didn't know you knew what the egg was yet!

Oh! Well, why not? Isn't that how birds do it?

How am I supposed to know how birds do it? Do I look like a bird to you? WELL, do I?!!

No, ma'am! You're a fish! I think... So, um, you should know how... fish take care of eggs...?

[ Undyne chuckles at that. Humans are so dumb and adorable. ] Not just a fish, a fish monster!! Get it right, you dweeb!

[This human in particular is silly.] Right, got it! But if that's the case, um, then you know how to take care of them, right? Fish, I mean.

[undyning]

Uh... no?!! There aren't many fish monsters like me where I'm from, and I don't know who my biological parents are, but I am pretty sure I didn't come from an egg!! Besides, it's irrelevant because I never planned on being a mother! Why would I bother learning something like that if I'm never going to have brats of my own?

Well... that's a good start! What else? You've seen kids with their mothers right? Maybe on TV?

It should really go into an incubation tank or something.

What about the parental bond? That forms from caring for it night and day.

[despairing_hope]

Sea creatures generally don't have that. Or, it will imprint when it hatches. I think that might be more of a bird thing though.

Well, gosh, that means you have to work even harder to make sure it loves you, whatever it is!

[despairing_hope]

It doesn't have to love me. It just has to hatch. I don't think I could take such responsibility if it did.

Isn't love the most important part of being a father?

[despairing_hope]

I wouldn't know. It's been a very long time since I've seen my father. Sealife also generally only has fathers protect eggs because the mother will eat them. And then the father wants to eat the hatched babies. So, it might be better to just be a guardian in that case.

[potentite]

[He's deciding right now the worst people for the job got this egg.]

Uhh. Well, okay, that seems like the responsible choice. Are you... going to be a loving guardian?

[despairing_hope]

Hmmm... I want to care for it, because it will be Hope. In fact, that makes it one of the most precious things here. But... there are things to worry about if I'm too close.

But, I will love the hope it represents, and the future hope it will surly bring!

[potentite]

Boy howdy you sure do love hope huh! I mean, it's good, hope is the best! But that's a frightful amount of pressure to put on something not even born yet.

[despairing_hope]

Hope is the most important thing in the world. However, I wasn't the one to claim this egg as such, but I'll definitely see it through.

[potentite]

Even if it isn't apparent how it represents hope...?
