[This is the first time Komeada has used the network to broadcast anything himself. He's smiling, though that's pretty typical for him, but there's a slight awkwardness to it.]

It would seem that by happenstance I've become a father.

[He sighs deeply, it is a rather purposeful sigh.]

I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do now though. I've been trying to look up information on how to go about it but the recourses are a bit lacking.

Biology was never really something I looked too deeply into. It seems a bit unlucky to be burdened by this so suddenly.

[He brightens at the next part though.]

However, I guess it is a rather lucky encounter to be bestowed a life to nurture!

Even though I was assaulted and insulted in the process.

[He sighs again, this one more genuine.]

Now I feel rather tired. So... yes, if someone could please help me, I don't really have enough stamina left to try and figure this out right now.

[And he does look rather drawn and tired. Paler than usual.]

[ That's when Undyne makes her grand appearance in the video feed, but not before setting off any number of crashes and explosions in the background? Did half the base just go up in flames? Sure sounds like it, but that's hardly important. Anyway... ]

What's up, buttmunches?! I'm a MOM now and if any of you losers even THINK about coming near MY egg-- [ She will fight Komaeda for it for custody!! Except not really. She'll share, just very badly, because that's Undyne. BUT EVERYONE ELSE STAY AWAY. ] --I'll make you regret it!

SO STAY AWAY FROM MY EGG!

[ A beat, and then: ] Oh! And uh... stay outta the Void, okay? It's too dangerous out there for you nerds.

What about the parental bond? That forms from caring for it night and day.

Sea creatures generally don't have that. Or, it will imprint when it hatches. I think that might be more of a bird thing though.

Well, gosh, that means you have to work even harder to make sure it loves you, whatever it is!

[despairing_hope]

It doesn't have to love me. It just has to hatch. I don't think I could take such responsibility if it did.

Isn't love the most important part of being a father?

I wouldn't know. It's been a very long time since I've seen my father. Sealife also generally only has fathers protect eggs because the mother will eat them. And then the father wants to eat the hatched babies. So, it might be better to just be a guardian in that case.

[potentite]

[He's deciding right now the worst people for the job got this egg.]

Uhh. Well, okay, that seems like the responsible choice. Are you... going to be a loving guardian?

[despairing_hope]

Hmmm... I want to care for it, because it will be Hope. In fact, that makes it one of the most precious things here. But... there are things to worry about if I'm too close.

But, I will love the hope it represents, and the future hope it will surly bring!

Boy howdy you sure do love hope huh! I mean, it's good, hope is the best! But that's a frightful amount of pressure to put on something not even born yet.

[despairing_hope]

Hope is the most important thing in the world. However, I wasn't the one to claim this egg as such, but I'll definitely see it through.

[potentite]

Even if it isn't apparent how it represents hope...?

[despairing_hope]

I won't know until it hatches. It's exciting to think about when it does though!

I'm not sure anyone on this base is really fit to be a parent... Hopefully it's easy to take care of.

[despairing_hope]

That's a bit sad to hear.

I'm sure even if it isn't easy to take care of we can figure it out.

We'll have to figure it out! The lil' fella is counting on us. But together is the best way to do anything anyway. Just because one single person isn't qualified doesn't mean none of us are put together!

It takes a village to raise a child?

That's the saying, right? I think it has some merit. Everyone has different skills that can assist with it.

I rather like that idea! That way everyone can lend their hope, and it can grow with the strongest of hopes!

[He was getting excited at the prospect. And this was a good train of thought, a lot better than it could have been.]

Golly. [Komaeda and hope... Hinata wasn't kidding that it's his favourite topic. Aside from being a little creepy, though, it seems harmless right now.] That's not a bad way of thinking about it, though. If everyone pours in their effort, then it has to turn out better. And I'm sure the lil fella will be grateful to everyone for working so hard!

I'm sure it will be, but I don't need any gratitude myself. In fact, trash like me should hardly even be allowed to care for it! But, I will do what I can, since the worthless person I am was lucky enough to be given such a thing. Surly just a vehicle though, one to bestow a shining future. A useful transport, a segue, a stepping stone.

An unimportant tool for the greater good that is hope.

['Trash like me'? 'Stepping stone'? Okay now it's weird.]

There isn't a such thing as an unimportant tool when it comes to hope. Everyone matters. No one's just a stepping stone when everyone matters to someone.

[despairing_hope]

[Oh what sweet words, how kind. He can't help but smile and laugh when he replies, though the words themself a chilling contrast to his tone.]

Wh... What? Surely that can't be the case?

It's quite true, and expected. I wouldn't know how to feel if someone even did, since it would be such a humiliating thing for them. The closest that can possibly come to such a thing is the obligation my class has to me as a member of the class. But that's just expected, and if they want to throw me away that's fine as well. Since I don't even deserve that much regard. Even after all the things we went though together.
