POST-HURRICANE LOG | OPEN MINGLE
[Past the 9th of the month, the hurricane's finally blown itself out, leaving a great deal of mess behind (but at least, a lot less mess than there would have been without the crew's various antics, right?)
After the calm there's the storm, but after the storm, there's...uh, actually, it's not all that calm again yet. Look at all these notable goings on that you can play with:
SICK PEOPLE are still a thing. Are you still suffering from the ravages of alien cave flu? Finally finding the energy to crawl out of bed? Starting to come down with it yourself? Getting dosed with cure attempts? Doing the dosing? Or maybe you're not sick at all but went hurricane surfing and are now prone in the medbay. It's been a rough couple of weeks.
The HURRICANE'S AFTEREFFECTS still linger. Fish in the base aquariums and biomes are just starting to resume their regular activities. Maybe some of your special fish friends are still spooked and need some coaxing out? Maybe you want to swim out to a more distant biome to check on creatures like the Reefbacks or the Birdogs? Or maybe you want to stick closer to home and do things like finish repairing the busted corridors, and cleaning out the kitchens and showers so the food and bathing situation doesn't descend back into complete travesty.
For those who've started wandering out, there's also FAMILIAR ITEMS washing up -- things from your home, or at least...someone's home. Is an embarrassing photo of you now plastered against an observatory window for the world to see? Your fancy car from home buried in the sand of the Safe Shallows?
Lastly, on the night of the 13th (and subsequent nights...), a distant DISCO LIGHTSHOW becomes totally visible on the horizon, in the Monolith's direction. What the heck? Maybe that's worth checking out.
And of course, there's always PLANNING, MISSIONS AND SHENANIGANS to do. Go nuts!]

...which is to say, Mikleo does not act with any of his usual tact, and just hurls a pillow at Souda's face. this -- looks like the pillow just up and attacked him of its own accord, because he's a bit ghosty.]
no subject
Hey! Knock it off, man—
[Only then does he actually try to identify the source of the pillow.
. . . Huh. Wait a second here. Someone under the sheets? No . . .
Well, he's at least convinced for now that it's just some jerk hiding. He keeps looking around, trying to suss them out.]
no subject
It's still kind of early. Let people sleep, will you?
no subject
W-who's there?! This ain't funny!
no subject
[there's a sudden sharp cutoff in the connection -- he'll get the weirdest feeling the talker just sneezed, even if he didn't hear it with his ears -- and then it's back, sounding even more clogged and irritable.
...he finally thinks to pull the blanket up over himself, so it hangs over his form noticeably, unseen or not.]
Here. Third mattress to the left, on the floor. There's a lump. That's me, your invisible friend. Do not come over here and start poking, I'll get germs on you. Welcome to the base. Please don't freak out.
no subject
Oh, hell no! No way! A ghost?!
no subject
[he breathes a sigh of relief when Souda refrains from poking. there's also a shift on one side of the blanket that...looks conceivably like someone's waving at Souda from under it...? ok]
Did you just come in here during the night, or what...
no subject
(Yes, he did, and this stings.)]
I—dunno, man, I was on the raft . . . it was around sunset, I think? Yeah, and we were waitin' for URSULA to find us . . .
no subject
[there's more shifts that indicate he's at least sitting up to peer at Souda properly, checking for injuries; he's a bit concerned.]
no subject
[The other survivors, that is.
He's fine, though, just on edge, and he hasn't been sleeping well for a while now.]
There should've been five of us!
no subject
no subject
That's him! Tall guy, with dumbass sticky-up hair?
no subject
[though...hadn't Hinata mentioned being on an island? how did things go from there to waiting for rescue on a raft? sounds like a long complicated story for another day.]
no subject
Awesome! He'll know what I'm talkin' about! So, you have any idea how long I've been out in here?
no subject
[well, someone's going to have to pass this on sooner or later:]
Hinata's been here...longer, though. Weeks. That's...confusing? There's some really funny stuff going on on this planet, though.
no subject
[If it doesn't make immediate sense, it can't be true . . .
Okay, he knows better than that by now. But this is beyond the pale.]
no subject
I, uh, I can't say I've ever thought of actually stabbing someone on it, but it is very sharp looking.
[and...while he hasn't thought of stabbing a person, an image drifts over to Souda with that thought before he can catch it.]
no subject
That probably strays over in Mikleo's direction, too.]
Don't make it sound that violent . . . I guess I started that, but I didn't mean it that way! —But it definitely sounds like we mean the same person, so I'm confused again.
no subject
I think we do -- look, there's something really odd about the way people come here, okay? I fell down a hole into the ocean here myself, and I wasn't even anywhere near the seashore at the time. It's not your fault or his. Just have a talk with him and you should be able to sort things out and catch up pretty easily, I think.
no subject
Even if he's invisible and nothing makes any sense in his life.
He manages a laugh anyway, uncertain but genuine.]
Yeah . . . thanks, man. Not that I'm glad to hear that. That all's the last thing I wanted to hear, but at least it's outta the way? And if Hinata's here, it'll all work out.
