CATCHALL LOG - JULY MISSIONS
[What it says on the tin: got a July mission you want to play out? Feel free to thread it in here! Please note in the subject header what mission it is and if it's open to all or closed to a smaller group. If you want to make your own separate log for a mission, that's fine too, of course!
Remember to check out the OOC planning/mission signups to see what's going on, claim your own missions, or poke other people if you want to join in on theirs!]

manoctopus always carries gun in case he needs to escalate situation[That's right. This terraforming gun is his.
Meaning, Fukami borrowed it and currently he's swimming back and forth outside of the base. He appears to be getting the lay of the land as the terraforming gun is securely grasped in one of his tentacles. Ignoring a few rabbitrays interested and eager to play, he'll just test this out and--oh wow, that's sure a thing. It really just makes land just like that.]
Hm. [An unconscious mental noise. Sorry, people.
But don't mind him, he'll just be knocking over the little piece he made before getting to... doing something. He appears to be building up the earth around the bottoms and foundations of the base, at any rate... and he might work on a part of a wall or two today. Don't worry about it. Surely looking out the window and seeing a gradually growing earth wall in the distance won't be unnerving in the least. Not at all.]
b. private rooms 2: electric boogaloo
[When he's not busy messing with the surrounding landscape, Fukami... works both inside and outside the base. You can catch him walking up and down the corridors of the base, checking things here or there, a hand (or tentacle) at his chin as he thinks about how to proceed. It's fine. Don't think about why he's standing and pondering too much.
Maybe you'll just be walking along when you see pink out of the corner of your eye and you'll turn to look out a nearby window to see Fukami carrying a corridor in his tentacles to just put that on an existing one... or on a room that hasn't been commandeered by any people. Which he'll then spend time reinforcing because this base is sure as hell going to be the sturdiest thing in the ocean.
OR PERHAPS you'll be there when he's finally finished it, several days after he began it. One of them. With help, perhaps??
LO AND BEHOLD, A NEW ROOM. His new room, specifically. He'll just be making a circle of it.
And maybe dragging two air mattresses into it, for now. He can't have this whole space to himself.] ...I suppose two or three more, [you might catch him murmuring to himself.]
b;
Is this your room?
no subject
Yes. And Shiro's. [Two mattresses and all.] I am planning to make more in the next several weeks, if you would like one as well.

It's then that he spots Fukami - though he hears the octopus man first, the 'hm' resounding through his mind. At first Don wonders inanely if this might be a friend of Korosensei's, but it's just as likely that this a completely different kind of person.
He may as well be friendly.]
How's that terraforming gun working out so far? [He should totally take it apart one of these days to see how it works.]
no subject
It is interesting. [It's all he supplies at first, but fires several blasts, slowly building up the beginnings of an earth wall.] But it works well.
Though it will take a little time until I can make walls with it that I'm comfortable with, strength-wise.

of course, the fact that right now he's chasing after rabbitrays (and maybe hugging one they're adorable he really wants to keep one.
But even in the midst of rolling around in the water with one of the rabbitrays, he peers over at Fukami.] So what's the strategy for this, Fukami?
no subject
Strong walls, preferably. They'll help against the hurricane.
URSULA mentioned the height at which she thought it would be good to build them up to. I'll be doing their foundation first.
[He pauses to glance down at him.] How are the rabbitrays? [HAVING FUN, HUH, SHIRO except part of Fukami is amused by it.]

She may not be a stickler for real English grammar, but she sure as shit is a stickler when it comes to programming grammar, and there are a lot of mistakes. No wonder URSULA's been having such a rough time lately. ]
A thousand bajillion lines cleaned up, only a bajillion million more to go! [ She announces to no one in particular before going right back to humming along with Dirk's music. She's not as big on rap as Dirk is, but that doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy listening to it.
It's nice to just be able to hang with her bro like this. Once upon a time, she would have killed for this opportunity. She cranes her head back to look at him, and watch him while he works...
She smiles at him. It's nice. ]

Sure! I came by to see if I could be of help, anyway. [he smiles even if it's hard to tell through the mask] Hey, Dirk.

spelunking; closed to haruka
She looks at the Chompers digging, digging their own caves and glances back at Haruka. She's fine with crawling down into there even if it's a little scary because she'll be alone, but she has to show she can do this. She can prove she's useful, and she can gain Haruka's approval. She can....!
But she does have one last question before she goes sneaking into these caves: ]
What should I look for?
no subject
[Hotaru's the smallest out of everyone who volunteered to go to the island, age and illness making her thin and nonthreatening. How deceptive. Hotaru needs to be out of her sight only for a few minutes; there's no point in losing sight of her and letting the situation get out of her control.
She crouches down next to a hole that seems to be fully dug and unoccupied, trying to avoid too much chomper attention and to come off as nonthreatening as possible. Haruka draws her hand across the burrowed earth.]
If we get separated, meet me in the caves. And...if they seem like they're getting fed up with you, get out. [Reasonable advice, and antithetical to her own goals. But if she has to be the one to swing the blade, she'll swing it.]

Of course, traveling with someone you can't see is still a little nerve-wracking. Whenever there's a lull in conversation, she can't help but glance around every now and then, like maybe this time, somehow, she'll be able to catch a glimpse of him. In whatever silences they have, she fights the urge to ask, to think, is he still there? She trusts him and believes in his goodness enough that she doesn't, but she can't completely shake off years of being left alone.
Once they're near their destination, she looks to where she hopes Mikleo is (but probably isn't). ]
Thank you again for coming with me. I'm not sure I could do it alone.
[ But also, because she promised at least two people she wouldn't go off into the ocean by herself. ]

he's catching his breath when she pipes up, so the reply takes a moment, but it comes with another helpful bubble flurry.]
It really does take teamwork to come out here! The ocean's rough. I'm glad you asked me.
[mostly he's glad to keep her company, though he has a personal reason as well; he's wanted to ask her about the incident where...someone else...seemed to have taken over her body, but it's hard to have that sort of private conversation in or near the base.]

It's too bad there's no real way to get a broad look at the effects of these with our own eyes. Calming hurricane currents in such a large area. . . now there's something I'd want to try and replicate as an arte someday.
no subject
[Saying it lightly, teasing; the hint of wistfulness in his tone says that he'd love to see it too.]
It would be amazing to be able to replicate it though. You could practice on a smaller scale, couldn't you?

PLUMBERS INC
STAGE 1: PLANNING. Gathering a group of people who know how bathrooms work. Planning out a layout for the bathroom. Ignoring URSULA's suggestions of a hot springs. ...maybe not ignoring the suggestion of seashell seats? Who knows what we'll end up with this crew.
STAGE 2: MATERIAL GATHERING. Get on your goddamned scuba gear and get us metal, minerals, and possibly giant clam shells.
STAGE 3: CONSTRUCTION. Going into the sea. Setting up the plumbing, building the main structure, building and installing all the important toilet fixtures.
STAGE 4: DECORATION. This may be the most dangerous step of them all.]
[ooc: Open mission post for the toilet plan. A ROOM FILLED WITH TOILETS. This couldn't possibly go wrong. Mingle freely and set up your own prompts for others to reply to if you want!]
stage 1
I guess... maybe we should start with what kinds of toilets are actually feasible to build enough of? Based on what kind of materials we think we might be able to find.
Re: stage 1
[ stage one! ]
-I guess the biggest challenge is the piping. [ compared to the shower system, they didn't have any existing systems to fiddle or improve. but he really wants another toilet that has some semblance of privacy.
thank god he had studied the pipes of their previous subject extensively. he thinks he can copy that for the toilets if needed. he's about to ask something when he stops himself upon seeing one of the suggestions, his brow furrowing in confusion. ] … Seashell seats?

Stage 3 | Aqua-Koopas
Everyone's constructed a robust set of blueprints by now, so the real difficulty is in getting down to actually... make the things. This is one of the main reasons Don volunteered: his indirect experience with water systems and his incidental ability to move well in the water are helpful when you're making an underwater plumbing system.
Donatello would really appreciate a buddy or two to help with lugging the tools around for this underwater bit. Every once in awhile he might call up to the people working on the interior sections of the toilet room (tm) via telepathy:]
Is that pipe flushing through? [Or maybe:] Now? ... How about now?
[This is touchy work underwater.]
