[This is the first time Komeada has used the network to broadcast anything himself. He's smiling, though that's pretty typical for him, but there's a slight awkwardness to it.]
It would seem that by happenstance I've become a father.
[He sighs deeply, it is a rather purposeful sigh.]
I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do now though. I've been trying to look up information on how to go about it but the recourses are a bit lacking.
Biology was never really something I looked too deeply into. It seems a bit unlucky to be burdened by this so suddenly.
[He brightens at the next part though.]
However, I guess it is a rather lucky encounter to be bestowed a life to nurture!
Even though I was assaulted and insulted in the process.
[He sighs again, this one more genuine.]
Now I feel rather tired. So... yes, if someone could please help me, I don't really have enough stamina left to try and figure this out right now.
[And he does look rather drawn and tired. Paler than usual.]
[ That's when Undyne makes her grand appearance in the video feed, but not before setting off any number of crashes and explosions in the background? Did half the base just go up in flames? Sure sounds like it, but that's hardly important. Anyway... ]
What's up, buttmunches?! I'm a MOM now and if any of you losers even THINK about coming near MY egg-- [ She will fight Komaeda for it for custody!! Except not really. She'll share, just very badly, because that's Undyne. BUT EVERYONE ELSE STAY AWAY. ] --I'll make you regret it!
SO STAY AWAY FROM MY EGG!
[ A beat, and then: ] Oh! And uh... stay outta the Void, okay? It's too dangerous out there for you nerds.

video;
[Hajime sighs and rakes a hand through his hair, trying to figure out what his next step should be. Nagito having possession of any kind of literal embodiment of hope seems like an absolutely terrible idea, but if he won't listen to reason about returning the egg from whence it came, then...]
What about Dave? Dave Strider, Dirk's brother. He's been raising the Magister, and I'm pretty sure he's good with animals.
video;
I don't mind as long as they know what they're doing and it will be alright.
[ He then smiled brightly.]
I trust your opinion Hinata kun. So if you think he's the best choice I'll trust him to be the best choice.
video;
[He... hopes. It's all he can do, really. Though now he's even more stressed, because if Nagito thinks he's going to make the right decision with regards to who's going to take care of it... if Dave fucks this all up, that means it'll indirectly be Hajime's fault.]
I still have a bad feeling about this... this is the kind of stuff we probably shouldn't be messing around with.
video;
And what should we be doing? There's really no other choice now. We have it, so it should be taken care of. And I know what I'm going to do, I'm going to make sure it hatches and I'll do everything I can for it.
I'll even give it my life if I need to! Not that such an insignificant offer is worth anything though.
[He pauses a moment, switching gears slightly.]
Hinata kun, can I ask you a favor?
[His tone shifted to a quieter one.]
video;
[You're concerning him. More than usual. Is some strange creature calling something "hope" enough to set Nagito off like this...? When they don't even know what it wants, or what the planet wants. What happened to the boy who said he didn't want to die for them, but now wants to die for this egg?
But he's presented his points, made his argument. And he really doesn't want to know what would happen if he tried to take the egg from Undyne.
The change in tone catches Hajime's attention, though, knitting his brows as he frowns.]
What is it?
video;
It's a bit embarrassing to ask, and I'm not sure who else I can ask... and of course you don't have to humor me or anything. There's no obligation to me after all. But... if you could help me bring this to where it needs to go, as well as get to the medical bay, it would be greatly appreciated.
Ah, unless that sort of thing puts you off, at the very least can I trust you to bring this egg to your friend?
video;
[Not that he objects to any of that at all, but-]
Why do you have to go to the medical bay? Are you injured?
[SHOULD HAVE OPENED THE VIDEO WITH THAT ASSHOLE!!]
video;
Injured? No, not at all. Nothing even touched me!
[He was lucky, as a given.]
However... it took hours and we had to swim back so....
It's not really anything important. Maybe a little anemic?
video;
It sounds more like you need to go to the kitchen than the medbay, idiot. You're--
[He was going to say lucky you didn't pass out and drown, but of course he was lucky.]
You have to eat something more substantial than toast if you're planning to exert yourself that much.
video;
[It had been a major surprise.]
I'll try to eat more next time I suspect going on a major outing.
[As if he had simply gone on a long walk today.]
But no... it would be better to go to the medbay. Simply eating right now isn't a good solution. That's more the sort of thing you do when you're low on blood but not bleeding out.
[Such a cheery visual said with a cheery tone.]
video;
[Ugh. UGH.]
Fine, stay where you are. Just give the egg to Undyne for now, I'll take you to the medbay.
video;
[He'd rather take it with him, because she was just really ridiculous. Tough, strong, but ridiculous. She reminded him of Akane and not in the best way.]
But I'll wait for you Hinata kun, I'll wait quietly for your arrival.
video -> action;
[But fine, either way he's coming to find the other boy, making an educated guess based on the background seen in the video footage.
Here he is, one (1) protagonist who looks worried in spite of himself.]
Hey, Komaeda.
action;
[He smiled, though it was weak. He really hadn't expected to be doing so much in a day, and to be honest he hadn't expected what he could do in a day to be as limited as it was. It really had been a few years!]
Please forgive me for being in such a state. I didn't properly understand just how much activity I'm capable of in a day.
[His breath was shallow and sat very still, as if moving was difficult.]
In such a place like this, it makes me wonder if I should reevaluate my own decision.
no subject
[He takes in the other boy's condition in a glance, worry becoming even more apparent as his brows knit together.]
Undyne is some kind of... fish lady, I don't know why you thought you'd be able to keep up with her in the open ocean.
[But he offers a hand, pointedly not looking toward Nagito's left hand. Please don't put the stump in his hand, that'd be a little weird.]
C'mon, you can lean on me. I'll get you to the medbay.
no subject
[He shook his head slightly and laughed a little bit.]
I wasn't trying to. All I had said was that if I wanted to find the source in the open ocean I would probably go adrift if I had no other proper leads. She's rather intimidating... the next thing I knew I was dragged off as some sort of good luck charm. It was very unlucky!
But then it was lucky! So I think this might have balanced, maybe. She did almost die, and I'm feeling rather bad so I don't think anything should happen to anyone else now.
[He was very glad for this fact. He also placed his right hand in Hinata's offered hand. It was the only one that could grip anything after all.]
Thank you Hinata kun.
[He paused a moment as he used the help to get up and wrap his good arm across Hinata's shoulders.]
May I ask you a question?
no subject
Don't mention it. [In response to his thanks, anyway. He doesn't even know how to go about responding to all that business about his luck, so he doesn't just yet, instead just slowly starting to walk toward the medbay, careful not to go faster than the other teen can handle.
But as for his question...]
Hang on. Tell me what decision you're thinking of reevaluating, first.
no subject
I'll come to that in a moment. But first; which is worse? Losing yourself, or losing your life?
no subject
[But he sighs through his nose, pausing a moment to think about it. Both of those are things he doesn't even want to consider as possibilities. That's a decision between two terrible things.]
I don't think either is worse than the other, [he says finally, brows knitting together again as he glances toward the other boy.] No matter how you look at it, "you" wouldn't be you anymore.
no subject
[He stops talking, as if he said too much or started to say too much and had to stop.]
no subject
For a long while, the only sound is the sound of their footsteps in the hallway.]
...I wouldn't choose either option, [he says finally, tilting his head to try to look the other boy in the eye.] I'd find another solution. After everything we've all gone through... there's no way I could just give up.
no subject
Hinata kun, this is why you're quite amazing! No matter what, you keep hope and strive forward.
[That was one of the things he really liked about him.]
You know... I was really hoping you would kill me. Or at least someone would....
[He knew this wasn't a good topic to have right now, he knew how Hinata felt about all that. He also knew it would just remind him of what he had done in the end, but... it felt like things he had to talk about.]
I wasn't expecting to wake up....
no subject
[He's quiet again, though the arm around the other boy's waist tightens in response to a sudden flash of anger. Anger, tempered with concern. He's still angry about what the other teen did -- did to himself, but also what Nanami had to go through. What they all had to go through, even if Hinata personally hasn't experienced it for himself. What Hanamura had to go through, being manipulated by someone like Komaeda. Abruptly, but not for the first time, he's reminded of a guilty wish that Komaeda had been killed, instead of Togami.]
You did, though. [His voice is stern, almost scolding, a hint of that anger seeping through.] You woke up in the kind of place where... where you can get help. Isn't that "luck?" Isn't that "hope?"
You were always going on about being a stepping stone for hope. Don't you think... you can think of that disease as something like that? Something you can overcome to achieve a greater "hope?"
[Maybe... he can't help but feel if he maybe puts it in the same kinds of terms Komaeda himself uses, that it'll have more of an impact.]
no subject
[Even if he couldn't remember it, it couldn't have all been bad.]
I don't think there's much help here.
[It had been one of the first things he had looked into.]
It comes back to my question... is it better to die as who you are, or lose yourself completely?
[Even if he longed for a great hope and viewed hardship as a stepping stone, his bad luck and good luck already fed off each other. He was still practical (more or less) in his thinking and realistic in his expectations of presented facts. He had two choices, and still only had two choices. He was simply now doubting his original choice. He had lost time, and now he wanted more.]
no subject
[Through it all, he keeps their slow, steady march toward the medbay, though the frustration is becoming even more apparent in his tone.]
There's nanites that... repair cell damage, there's... this isn't Jabberwock Island, Komaeda. We're stuck in the kind of setting you read about in science fiction! I refuse to believe that with someone with Tsumiki's skills given all this technology that she can't synthesize something. Even if a cure doesn't exist right now, there are incredible people here. They'll help you.
